For some, depending on their symptoms and status, having a pet may prove a great motivator and incentive to keep moving. Walking a dog is a responsibility, but also a great way to force you to keep moving, however you do it. We have a Norfolk Terrier named Elvis (yes he can sing!) -- Elvis packs more love into his 15 lbs than anything on 2 or 4 legs anywhere. He's the worlds greatest distraction from all the issues MS (and other difficulties) can bring. Looking up at that tail wagging a mile a minute -- its hard not to smile. While a pet is a huge responsibility, they can return pound for pound more happiness and joy than almost anything else around.
